This week's performances

Here are the two wonderful songs sung by Vaishali this week. Both her performances were triple - histories ! She completed her hatrick of histories and is now proving to be one of the most consistent performers. However, as I read the forum discussions, the fans are still expecting a lot more from her. This is still nothing like her real potential.

Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu : She gave wonderful expressions in this songs and carried the laheka very well. The scale was again a problem which made begining of antara little flat (too high for her)and I felt some of the extra harkats (like in main aur tu) could have been done without. Indeed Shankar rightly said that the expectations from Vaishali are very high (since usually she has one of the most perfect pitching).

Tum hi Dekho na: Again some wonderful harkats and variations in antara. Voice can be more consistent. Wonderful feel she put into it. Some vibratos and landing notes were coming in a little late. But overall this was a really amazing performance.

Vaishali Scored triple History again for the third time in the contest. I don't know how much to read into this. The performance was rocking. She had her own touches and some nice variations in places. Do check for yourself if Vaishali's voice goes well with bubbly actress like Priety Zinta or not. Here is the performance for you. Jiya dhadak dhadak

Vaishali's Jiya Dhadak Dhadak Song is here. Today rather than her singing the focus of attention was on her life and hardships. They have known this is well tested formula with Poonam. Her performance was not her best. She had some range/breath problems towards the lower notes of the songs.

Her voice is still uniquely her own. We wish she soon delivers her kind of "real" history performance which will be remembered as a landmark sa re ga ma pa performance. Meanwhile, she remains the dark horse and probably lambi-race-ka-ghoda
who will shine as the competition progresses and show her true forte.

Man Saat Samandar: October 10th

Yet another song she was asked to sing in Punjabi Genre. And this time it is Sunidhi's song. Sunidhi's songs are by far the most difficult for reality show contestants to match to her level and live up to the expectations. I have never thought that Punjabi is the right genre for Vaishali, although she is not bad in this genre. She has the finesse in her voice texture and flowing harkats but not the power.

She was not given good scores today for the lack of energy. Nothing against this assessment. Today simply was not her day. She was feeling sick and she didn't even attend other people's performances. She had to go and lie down right after her performance.

Well it is anyone's guess what the right strategy for her song selection should be. But I hope they find it soon. Meanwhile this week is going to be the toughest for Vaishali. For one, since she was the topper this week, some of her voters are likely to be more complacent. Plus, since she didn't get very good comments this week, it is likely that she may not gather new voters. So please all the fans, just VOTE, VOTE, VOTE !

Here is the video of Vaishali's October 3rd performance. Vaishali's versatility is being explored here. Her voice range is mezzo-soprano, which fits between alto and soprano voices. This week she sings Richa Sharma (alto) genre song. These songs require powerful lower pitch singing. Powerful or not, I don't know, but her voice quality was shining in this song. Towards the end there are wonderful aalaps and harkats. She was wonderfully delicate while taking her variation. We have seen many reality show singers in this genre: Poonam, Himani, Rithisha. Vaishali brings in her own uniqueness while singing this genre.

She got History, History, History again. Nothing much I have to say about whether it deserved or not. I have not been a fan of SRGMP's judgement standards. Vaishali sang much better songs in her genre in Marathi SRGMP but got dha (6/7) most of the times.
But anyways, I am at least glad that they started giving her attention and hype required to build fan-following among wider spectrum of music lovers and non-music lovers. Vaishali got once more from the audience and all the mentors came on to the stage (at Himesh's request although). Himesh has been known to whole-heartedly support his gharana contestants. We hope Vaishali benefits in terms of her fan-following and never sees bottom-3 again.

Deepali Interviews Vaishali Mhade !

I am glad to share Vaishali's interview for her fans .
I always found Vaishali very down to earth, polite and matured girl whenever she used to talk on stage.
I must say, Vaishali has not changed after a huge success, she is even more simple and sweet in real life !
I am thankful to her for sharing some wonderful thoughts with us

Deepali: Vaishali, first of all congratulations to you for winning Zee Marathi Saregamapa and for entering into Hindi saregamapa.

Vaishali : Thank you, it is all bcoz of you fans !Deepali : We were expecting you in Eklavya Gharana like Shoumen , how come you entered late .Vaishali: I really do not know, but Zee never told me about Eklavya, they already told me about my entry after Brahamstra round .

Deepali: We are happy to see you here Vaishali.I heard some where that you were not well bcoz of which you couldn't enter earlier in Eklavya!Vaishali: Oh no, that is so not right, I was pregnant then and two moths back me and Mr.Made has become proud parents of a wonderful daughter, 'Astha' :)Deepali: Wow, that is a wonderful , Congratulations to both of you!

Vaishali: Thank you, I am sure Aastha's arrival is very lucky for me.

Deepali: Tell me about your family background, any other member of your family is into singing ?

Vaishali : Not at all, I come from a very small town in Amaravati district, called ' Khar tale' where basic needs like water supply, hospitals, good schools are not available.
My family had extremely low income status where I couldn't even think of taking any professional music training.
I used to sing as a hobby.
If I had to learn music, going to Amaravati city was the only way which was impossible for me due to our economical status.
My father used to take me for small family functions, weddings where I started doing public singing.
This is how it started, my father showed me the path but I couldn't take any formal training until 2005.

Deepali:So what happened in 2005 ?

Vaishali:I got married and we came to Mumbai, the land of opportunities !
I must say more than me, it was my husband who wanted to see Vaishali, a 'Successful singer.
'He is the one who started supporting me to take my music seriously.
I am very lucky to have him as my life partner, without him my success was just impossible !
He encouraged me to learn classical music and he supported me to apply for Zee Marathi saregamapa 2006.
I got rejected in 2006 but my husband told me not to lose hopes.
Then I started learning classical music in 2006 from Pt. Ajay Pohankar..
Then finally I got selected for Zee Marathi Saregamapa for 2007 season and that is how people started knowing me.

Deepali:Vaishali, I am a big fan of yours.
I liked all your performances on Zee Marathi platform.
I think you are the only reality show winner, who deserved to win as per judges and as per public demand too.Also we are proud to have a woman who is the Mega winner.

Vaishali:Thank you, Zee Marathi journey was wonderful and I dedicate my victory to all my fans , who made me the 'Winner..Reality shows are made for public and I will be always grateful to them!


Deepali: Now you are here in Saregamapa Challenge'09 !Your first preference was Shankarji or Pritamda's gahrana, how do you feel to be in Himeshji's gharana?

Vaishali: Yes, I did mention Pritamda and Shankarji's gharana but I feel extremely proud to a part of Himeshji's 'Rock' Gharana.
I have always been a Shankar Mahadevan fan , he also guides me like Himeshji does !
I consider myself very lucky to have 2 great music directors to guide me.
At the moment I am new in Rock gharana, so prabably won't be able to describe Himeshji so well, but I feel he seems to be a nice person and he really is very hopeful and confident about me.

Deepali: We all are hopeful about you and Himeshji too !
Himeshji always supports his singers like his own kids, I am sure he will guide you on right track !
You are in right Gharana, I must say.

Vaishali:

Vaishali, what are your views on public voting, do you think deserving singers often face unfair decisions ?
What do you think of Aasma coming in istead of Sunvincer/Shashi/Manisha ?

Vaishali:
As I said earlier, 'Reality shows are made for the public , so if public demands something, the channel has to provide that.
Yes, we often see deserving singer not getting right opportunities, but I do not blame on any channel or public even.
The channel is bound to do what public demands !
If Asma has come back , yes, we have to accept that the public really wantes her and so she is here.
This is what reality shows are all about and being a reality show contestant, I understand these facts and I am ready to accept happily whatever public decides for me.

Deepali:Very well said Vaishali !
Who is your favorite contestant singer among top 14 and who is your best friend among these ?

Vaishali :
My answer to both is 'Shoumen , the Zee Bengali winner' !
He is my favorite performer and a very good friend as well.
He is very down to earth, simple person, I admire his singing and his nature very much.
And I am not saying this bcoz we both entered late after Brahamstra and we both are regional show winners, He really is a very good friend !

Deepali: What kind of songs you enjoy the most ?

Vaishali: My first love is 'Ghazals' !!
I am crazy about ghazals since my childhood.
Ghulam-Ali ji is my favorite ghazal singer, I am a BIG fan of his singing !
'Karo na yaad magar' is my favoriet ghazal.
I also like Ashaji, Suresh Wadkar ji a lot.
I love Madan Mohan ji-Lataji combination, I really want to perform on Madan-Moahnji song in Saregamapa some day !
I have practiced and I can sing more than 400 songs of Madan Mohanji.

Deepali:So tell me, when you perform, who seletcs your songs ?

Vaishali:We get different themes every week and we give our choices accordingly .The channel decides one song out of these choices.Do not forget to watch Sept 26 th episode.
I have performed 'Ishq bina kya jeena yaro' , Taal movie song.
Also a small interview of mine will be shown .

Deepali: Great, we will not miss that !!

2. Vinnie from Hyderabad (the owner of Saregamapa Apna community) is very much sure and looking forward to listening to Himeshji 's choices for you !
3. FARAZ (karachi) would like to hear Chandni Ratain by Noor Jahan from you.

Ishq Bina -- September 26th

Here is a beautiful rendition of Ishq Bina by Vaishali. She has sung it uniquely in her own voice and style. She took incredible amounts of small, and gentle harkats with her own variations. Look out for words like "marnaaa", "marrrna", "binaaa", each taken slightly differently everytime she sings. She gets History, History, History.

Vaishali ends up in bottom-3 right in the first week she enters.
Shankar mentions, "kya fayda history dene ke baad bhi she is in bottom three".

Currently, her performances are not getting noticed among so many singers. She enters the competition at this late stage, and hence she is yet to build her fan following. Instead of giving her much needed boost by praising her singing skills, Saregamapa has decided to market her poverty-struck past. She is certainly a representative and an inspiration to a huge class of rural people in India, who usually get no visibility.

Vaishali's Nimbooda Performance

Please enjoy the video of Vaishali's performance on September 20th. This is her opening song in Saregamapa 2009. The song may not be exactly in her forte, but she did remarkably well. She showed great character in her voice, especially at the low notes. I liked some parts of the song even better than the original, for example, the way she approaches the words "laay do".

No hype for her yet from the judges. They are, in fact, pointing out to some 1% shortcomings of her when Aadesh said about high notes. Let's see how the game unfolds. Enjoy.

Hello Friends

This is not an official website of Vaishali Mhade. This is a fan blog to support Vaishali (Bhaisne-Made) Mhade, an amazing singer in Sa re ga ma pa Challenge 2009.Vaishali is the winner of Zee Saregamapa Marathi. She joins SRGMP C-2009 as a direct entry in the final 14. She belongs to Himesh Reshammiya’s Rock Gharana. Vote for Vaishali and make her the grand winner of the Vishwayudh.

Her voice has the sweetness and heaviness which is rarely found. Her performances in SRGMP-Marathi have been outstanding. After a long gap, we find this rare lata-genre singer (after Nihira Joshi), to be entering reality shows. She is fond of Lata/Madan Mohan combination and Ghulam Ali’s Ghazals.

She is an extremely matured, humble, lively person and a true artist devoted to music.
